Mytherine (mɪθəˈrin, Myths riverine)

Mytherine is a saga unfolding across many chapters, set in a fictional world rich with its own gods, myths, and legends—yet bearing echoes of our own. Our lyrics draw inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, and the Dark Souls series. Musically, we blend elements of melodic, progressive, and blackened death metal. With our epic storytelling and orchestral arrangements, we proudly embrace the banner of Epic Death Metal.

Biography

Mytherine is a German melodic death metal band that has been enriching the metal scene with a mixture of orchestral samples and epic riffs since its formation in 2011. Their music combines atmospheric melodies with brutal but melodic guitar riffs and complex arrangements.

Musical style and influences

Mytherine’s music is heavily influenced by bands such as Septicflesh, Be’lakor, Rotting Christ, Daath, Dissection, Dimmu Borgir, At The Gates, old In Flames and Trivium. The mixture of orchestral elements, dark atmospheres and melodic death metal results in an independent and powerful soundscape. The lyrics deal with themes of their own lore, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin and the Dark Souls series.

Band history

Mytherine was founded in 2011 and has since played in various cities in Germany. The band has built a solid reputation through their energetic live performances and musical skills. After the debut album in 2015, only a few releases in the form of singles followed due to restructuring, Corona and other hurdles.

In 2024, the band began working on their EP “EP 2024”, which was recorded in the Noir Surge Studio and released digitally in May 2024. After a rebranding, a music video for the song “Ash’teroth” followed in August 2024, which gives a deep insight into the dark atmosphere of their music.

Since December 2024, Mytherine has been concentrating on recording their second album “Lord of Mountains”, which was planned for 2018, but will now be released at the end of 2025 for the reasons mentioned above. The album will continue the dark and epic soundscapes with a state-of-the-art sound and come with an even stronger intensity.

Current projects

The new album “Lord of Mountains” will be released at the end of 2025 and contains eleven tracks (three of which are instrumentals) that strongly emphasize both the melodic and epic elements of the band. The album will be recorded partly in the Noir Surge Studio, partly in the LTMF Studio and mastered in the LSD Studio. The production will put the further development and the unique sound of Mytherine in a completely new light.

And since Corona brought few performances and a lot of time for creativity, the third album was created in 2019, which is only final in terms of songwriting so far.
